Rocket Larkspur is native to Europe. It comes in many varieties of colors and provides an excellent cut flower. The leaves and seeds of this flower are poisonous, so caution must be taken when planting around children or pets. Rocket Larkspur can be either spring or fall planted. If you spring plant, put the Rocket Larkspur seed in the refrigerator for two weeks prior to planting and you may yield better results. A burst of cold typically initiates germination of the seeds. Blooms can be expected anytime between spring and fall. Rocket Larkspur can be started indoors, but must be transplanted when the plants are small.

Sowing: Direct sow 1/8" deep in deeply worked, rich soil. In warm regions the seed can be planted in fall for earlier bloom, while early spring planting is a better time for areas with cold winters. To start the seed indoors, sow 1/8" deep in a flat kept evenly moist and at a temperature of 60 degrees F. This seed germinates rather slowly, but should sprout within 20-30 days. Transplant the seedlings when there is no chance of frost.

Growing: Water the plants regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist. This plant tolerates sandy or clay soils. Avoid overwatering, since excess moisture may cause root rot. The plants should bloom in their first season if started early; otherwise, they will begin blooming in the following summer. After the first crop of blossoms fade the plant may be pruned for new growth and a possible second blooming. These plants will self-seed in good growing conditions. Cut the plant several inches above ground level after the first hard frost. Larkspur attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.

All multiple orders of the same seed are put in the same bag. For example if you order 500 beefsteak tomato seeds x 3 then 1500 seeds will be put in the same bag. We do not send out 3 individual bags with 500 in each. This goes for all seeds unless they are listings of different seeds.
